TAG Heuer Carrera
While the Formula 1 is a tribute to TAG Heur’s ceramic innovation and partnership with Formula 1, the Carrera is the original racing watch. The series was first made in 1963 and named after the Carrera Panamericana – one of the most legendary road races of the time.
Jack Heuer wanted a watch that was easy to read, highly shock resistant, water-proof, and generally tough all round. Throw that in with TAG Heuer’s incredible ability to produce stylish, iconic watches, and you’ve got a thing of real beauty.
Over 50 years later, the Carrera is still the flag carrier for TAG Heuer’s watchmaking finesse and racing heritage.
As well as it’s iconic style, the Carrera comes with the standard TAG Heuer features:
- Excellent readability.
- Luminous hands for dark/underwater reading.
- Water resistance.
- Shock resistance.
- Swiss automatic movements (no battery required).
On top of that, there is the tachymetre, and the chronograph variation to tie the series to motor racing.
In 2010 they added the Chronograph to the collection, using the patented oscillating pinion that Eduoard Heuer had first made history with back in 1887. This is where the calibre 1887 variation of the Carrera comes from.
The TAG Heuer is recognized in many circles as the contemporary sports watch. This is down to a mixture of style, history, innovation, and pure functionality. There is so much to appeal to so many, that everybody will claim different reasons for loving it.
Just like so many other watches here on WatchingElegance.com, this is one of those that will stand out from the crowd. It will make people take note, but most importantly, feel absolutely incredible to wear.
