Tag Heuer Aquaracer Blue Dial
What Makes The Aquaracer Special?
The Aquaracer is one of TAG Heuer’s finest watches. As they put it, it’s the watch for active men with style. As you’d expect from the name, the Aquaracer is TAG Heuer’s answer to the sailing watch. Designed to work perfectly under extreme sailing conditions, and perform to the usual high standards of a TAG Heuer watch, the Aquaracer was originally a celebration of the partnership between TAG Heuer and Oracle Team USA in the 34th America’s cup.
Most notable among the features of the watch are the sapphire crystal glass, and the ceramic bezel. These make it a lot more scratch resistant than traditional steel watches. It’s said that ceramic is 4 x more scratch resistant, and 25% lighter than steel. That’s incredible when you think about it. It weighs nothing, and is stronger.
If you’re going to invest in a luxury timepiece, knowing how scratch resistant it is will make your decision easier. Let’s face it, we’re not all sailors, and many of us would wear the Aquaracer purely as decoration or comfort. This is where the ceramic really does its job in my opinion.
Of course, for more sailing/aqua-related features, there is the fact the watch is water resistant to 500M, and is highly readable underwater. This would make a more than suitable diver’s watch as well.
